Back in January it was announced that Wes Craven would be producing a Scream-like horror called The Girl in the Photographs, and now the cast for this exciting project has expanded, and its good news!
Mitch Pileggi, who starred as serial killer Horace Pinker in Wes Craven’s awesome 1989 horror Shocker has joined the cast. Katharine Isabelle (American Mary, Ginger Snaps, Hannibal) and Claudia Lee (Kick-Ass 2, Hart of Dixie) have also joined the cast, and are all pictured above.
Lee will play the title character of Colleen, a bored small-town girl trying to distance herself from an abusive boyfriend when two serial killers begin leaving her photos of their brutal crimes.
Miranda Rae Mayo (“Pretty Little Liars”), Christy Carlson Romano (“Kim Possible”), Toby Hemingway (Black Swan) and Luke Baines (Saving Mr. Banks) have also been cast, joining Christy Carlson Romano, Kal Penn, Kenny Wormald and Toby Levins.
Horror legend Wes Craven (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT) is set to executive produce, and Craven’s protégé Nick Simon (writer of THE PYRAMID, COLD COMES THE NIGHT) is set to direct. Brandon M. Vayda and Krystal Tiffany Vayda will executive produce alongside Craven and Alghanim, with Thomas Mahoney set to produce along with Chung.
THE GIRL IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS is an original thriller inspired by Craven’s Nineties blockbuster SCREAM. Set against the glamorous backdrop of the fashion world, the film will bring a modern sensibility to the genre. The film is currently in the casting stage.
Synopsis:
Colleen’s life isn’t going anywhere. The small town natural beauty is bored with her dead end job at a grocery store and is ready to distance herself from her abusive boyfriend. In the midst of her turmoil, a pair of deranged serial killers begins leaving her photos of their mutilated victims. Her chance to escape comes in the form of Peter Hemmings (Penn), a hipster celebrity photographer who has traveled back to his hometown of Spearfish, South Dakota, with a pack of models, intent on copying the killers’ intense and unapologetic artistry and use it for an important ad campaign.
When he learns Colleen is their muse, Peter resolves to make her his own and use her as the centerpiece of a photo campaign in Los Angeles. But before Colleen can leave her old life behind, she must contend with the desires of her murderous stalkers, who have chosen her last night in town to execute their most provocative work to date.
